Blog: Bags of gigs, 'rebrand'... and an album on the way... (Part 2)
Hi again, thanks for coming back for Part 2 :-)
So to recap...you'll remember that Tiff Wheaton Green and I are playing at the Cellar Bar in Boscombe on Monday 27th June*, and that you should definitely come. ;-)
So what else is happening? Some of you might have noticed that most of the places which usually say 'Red Stencil' now say 'Kar Stanton'. Almost a year ago my friend Barry aka The Inconsistent Jukebox, told me, quite emphatically, that I should drop Red Stencil and go with Kar Stanton. I usually take a little while to mull over things before making decisions, perhaps you could say I am a little indecisive...(cue laughter from family, friends and work colleagues.) Anyway, I seemed to be spending a lot of time explaining to people that Red Stencil was Kar Stanton. But I've always liked female solo artists who use stage names, like St Vincent, Bat for Lashes, Joan as Policewoman, My Brightest Diamond... and more recently tUnEyArDs and Grimes... oh no, see now I'm regretting the change. It's good to learn from your heroes. But if we go down that line there are some great female musicians who use their names, PJ Harvey (yes, I know its Polly Jean) and Courtney Barnett to name just two, so we don't need to worry about that. I'm waffling now. So anyway, the decision has been made, and I'm not going to change it now :-) Honest. No really.
Album! Yeah, I've got an album so so very nearly completed. Artwork and mastering to be sorted out, but I have 11 songs, written arranged performed recorded mixed... can't wait for it to be out there in the world. It'll be a few months though. Hopefully I'll do a launch gig or two, plus I'll probably release a single off it first.
Hope to see you guys on 27th June :-)

(thanks to my friends Lizzy and Sarah for the cat card - not sure if he's channelling Michael Jackson or Freddie Mercury or someone-else, let me know what you think in the comments - and Sainsbury's for making it ;-) PS don't sue me Sainsburys, it's just a blog post, and only four people will read it...)
